Motorsports 2015 Seminar Schedule

Friday, January 23: (Show Hours 2 to 9 p.m.)

5:00 – 6:00 PM: (Room 1) “The Basics of Racing” – Set-up, tire and general maintenance on Street/Pure/Factory Stock and Front Wheel-Drive (asphalt and dirt) “U-car” divisions. Presented by Roy Anderson of Anderson Race Cars.

6:15 – 7:15 PM (Room 1): “The State Of Crate Racing” — a detailed overview of this fast-growing racing concept, with a Q & A session. Presented by Stan Lester, founder of the FASTRAK Series

6:15 – 7:15 PM: (Room 2): “Pavement Modified 101 With Troyer Engineering’s Billy Colton and Brad LaFontaine” – They will offer set-up, general maintance tips and advice to pavement Modified drivers and teams; with a Q & A session. Bring your questions, they will have the answers!

6:30 -7:15 PM: (Room 3) “Legal Issues in Racing, and with the Racing Business” – Presented by attorney Meri Van Blarcom-Gupko of Wiley, Malehorn, Sirota and Raynes legal firm. A practicing lawyer with an auto racing background, she will answer racing-related legal questions that you may have, such as sponsor liability, insurance and what
responsibilities you need to be aware of as a racer and/or track operator. Open to racers and promoters/track managers.
(Note: Legal questions will be answered at no charge during the presentation).

Saturday, January 24: (Show Hours 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

12:00 – 1:00 PM: (Room 1) “Race Saver/TSRS 305 Sprint Cars” – Region Director Joe Grandinetti outlines the basics of the TSRS series, and 305 Sprint Cars and general information on the group’s 2015 schedule

1:00 – 4:00 PM: (Room 2) PROMOTERS SEMINAR presented by Speedway Benefits (you must be pre-registered With Speedway Benefits to attend). Topics will include social media, sponsorships and concession management. Legendary driver KENNY WALLACE, the successful co-owner of Macon Speedway in Illinois and recently launched Dirt Racing Experience at tracks nationwide will be the keynote speaker.

1:00 – 2:00 PM: (Room 3): “Dirt Modified/ Sportsman 101 With Troyer Engineering’s Billy Colton and a special guest” – They will offer set-up, general maintance tips and advice to dirt Modified and Sportsman drivers and teams; with a Q & A session. Bring your questions, they will have the answers!

1:15 – 2:15 PM: (Room 1): : “Race To Win Sprint Car EZ Set Up” – Pancho Lawlor of Pancho’s Racing Products along with a special guest speaker will start your year off on the right foot, the gas pedal, with invaluable setup, driving and maintence seminar. Learn the best set ups for different tracks and conditions. Driving technique, mental and physical preparation and team communication plus a successful mainteance schedule.

2:15 – 3:15 PM: (Room 3) “Dirt Late Model Set-ups and Chassis Tuning” — presented by Jim Bernheisel of Bernheisel Race Components/Lazer Chassis. Let one of the sports experts in dirt Late Model competition point you in the winning direction.

2:30 – 3:30 PM:(Room 1): “ENGINE TUNING” with Frankie Good, founder of Good Motorsports in Mooresville, NC. He will address reading Spark Plugs, handling changing weather conditions and so much more. In addition to his own company catering to short-track racing, Good also works for Tommy Baldwin’s NASCAR Sprint Cup team.

3:30 – 4:30 PM: (Room 3) “URC 360 Sprint Car Club” – Management of the rebirth of the United Racing Club including Bill Gallagher, Curt Michael, Robbie Stillwaggon and Pat Palladino will outline their 2015 plans, schedule, rules and future direction.

3:45 – 4:45 PM: (Room 1): “The Basics of Race Team Sponsorship” – Presented by race team Media Relations
consultant and motorsports journalist John Snyder. The basics you need from writing proposals and who do send them to is covered from an expert who has had winning success.

4:30 – 5:30 PM: (Room 2): “Pavement Modified 101 With Troyer Engineering’s Billy Colton and Brad LaFontaine” – They will offer set-up, general maintance tips and advice to pavement Modified drivers and teams; with a Q & A session. Bring your questions, they will have the answers!

4:45 – 5:30 PM: (Room 3) “Taking Photos at the Track” – For the “amateur” or the person looking to enter the business, this seminar provides “the basics” of racing photography. One attendee will get a chance to take photos at the Ms. Motorsports competition, with the professionals! Hosted by award winning racing photographer Bob Yurko of Area Auto Racing News

5:00 – 6:00 PM (Room 1): “Super Late Model Racing, The ULTIMATE Way” — The background, present and future of the Ultimate Super Late Model Series, which is expanding to the northern tracks. Technical rules and the season schedule will be discussed, with a Q & A session. Presented by Kelly Carlton, Ultimate Series Director.

5:15 – 6:15 PM: (Press Room) Race Track/Tour & Series Media Workshop — Open discussion between racing writers/photographers and track/series Promoters/Managers and Press Directors as to professionalism, credential usage and pre and post-event coverage. A featured topic will be “Today’s Racing Social Media”, with emphasis on how tracks/organizations are using Facebook, Twitter and related “social media” in publicizing their events; and “credential approval by tracks in the new era of social media.” Hosted by Lincoln, Pa., Speedway media staff members Wayne Harper (press director) and Bill Meyer (webmaster).

5:45 – 6:30 PM: (Room 3) “New Sprint Car Fuel Tank” presented by Drew Barney of Fuel Safe. Get the low down from the source on the new bladderless Enduro fuel cell for Sprint Car Racing.

Noon – 1:30 PM: (Room 1) Quarter-Midgets of America (QMA) Region II Meeting

1:45 – 2:45 PM: (Room 1) “How To Get Started In Quarter-Midget Racing” presented by Stephen Boyd of Quarter Midgets USA – What you need to know, purchase and do to get your child into racing from the technical, rules and safety aspects.
