Newsmaker of the Week // Florida Speedweeks

Ahh, that Florida weather!

Yes, it’s too cold to take a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean, and yes, it has been cold enough at New Smyrna, Volusia, Ocala and East Bay to see your breath some nights when the races are over.

Florida’s relative warmth is the reason the outdoor racing season gets a jump start. Fields of cars have been of good quality and in decent numbers. Competition has been outstanding most nights at most tracks. They’re all here: 410 Sprints, Super Late Models both dirt and asphalt, NASCAR at Daytona, and much more to yet to come.

Speedweeks in Florida is a racing phenomenon, the opportunity for headline makers to come forth.

And that, by climate, by ritual, is an annual Newsmaker.
