Earning high dollar wins in high profile races last week, two virtuoso drivers were the classes of their fields in a pair of events as dfferent as night and day.
On Wednesday, Danny Johnson dominated the Super DIRTcar Series race at the three-eighths mile dirt Albany-Saratoga (NY) oval by setting a blistering pace that blistered tires. Not his tires, but his competitors’.
On Saturday, Anthony Sesely rebounded from a mid-race spin, and a late-race flat tire. A tangle in front him on the last lap that took out the top two drivers was the bit of luck he needed to win the ‘Summer Sizzler’ at Wall (NJ) Stadium.
Johnson’s win, worth ten grand, was easy. Sesely’s, worth half that, was a slam bang affair.
The common thread is the newsworthiness of their winning rides, stellar drives to triumph.
Danny Johnson and Anthony Sesely made news by winning big.
