In asphalt Modified racing circles, there is no race more prized than the Race Of Champions.
This year’s race, the 64th running at Oswego (NY) Speedway, was a hard-nosed affair and its winner, Chuck Hossfeld, rose to the occasion.
Less than half the field finished the grueling 200 lap distance and many of the finishers were battle weary drivers steering banged up steeds.
Riding above the fray this day was Chuck Hossfeld, a man who first won this race in 1999 as youthful hot shot. Fifteen years later, he’s the accomplished veteran and still a winner.
Oswego is a hard track to master, the Race of Champions is a hard race to win. Hossfeld mastered and triumphed on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
Hossfeld made no mistakes over the course of two hours, a perfect ride.
A big win in a big race makes news. A perfect drive in a storied event makes Chuck Hossfeld Area Auto Racing News’ Newsmaker Of The Week for Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
