TQ MIDGET COMPETITORS: MANDATORY TETHER
A wheel tether that will be mandatory on the right front of all independent suspension cars starting with this year’s Atlantic City Indoor Race to be held January 30 and 31 is currently being produced by Amick Associates. For this year’s event it is highly suggested that they be used on the left front as well. We also recommend for safety reasons that if at all possible they be on cars for the event in Trenton, NJ as well.
To avoid any clearance issues the tether can be bolted to your spindles using a .500 inch bolt. The opposite end of the tether will wrap around the frame of your car and “choke” inside itself.
The tethers will be mandatory on both left and right suspension starting with the 2015/2016 Indoor Racing Series. Each tether will be marked and certified by Amick, no other tether system will be allowed.
For ordering and shipping reasons, the tethers will be sold through the Area Auto Racing News office for the cost of $50 each or $90 for a set plus $6 shipping and handling. While we are not making the tethers mandatory for the left front this year or at Trenton at all, we prefer if all racers co-operate in the eye of safety and work hard to have this job completed in time for the events in December. Last year we saw several loose front wheel assemblies on independent front suspension cars and want to stop any possible danger from this type situation in the future.
