The old adage, “everybody talks about the weather, but no one can do anything about it” may be true, but this past week’s latest temperature and precipitation misery has forced the hands of promoters, even those with events weeks away.
It all started with USAC and ASCS rainouts in sunny Florida. Then, Lincoln (PA) Speedway gave up for the second straight week.
Then, Selinsgrove (PA) Speedway and the Race Of Champions Series gave in to the latest weather event and pulled the plug on their March 14 race.
Ominously, other tracks may be forced to follow suit.
Whether it’s Old Man Winter, Mother Nature, or just a climactic correction for global warming, winter weather is a Newsmaker – to the detriment of everyone in racing.
