Newsmaker of the Week // Matt Sheppard

If there is such a thing as The Holy Grail Of Newsmaking in auto racing, it would have to be the winning of three features in a single week.

It’s a rarity, even among the professional who race three, four or even five nights a week.

So this past week, when Matt Sheppard strung together Big Block Modified wins at Grandview (PA) Speedway, and Brewerton and Canandaigua Speedways in New York State. on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights respectively, it caught the attention of the racing community.

Sheppard is no stranger to winning, of course, nor of winning lots of races in bunches.

But three wins in a week is rare, laudable, a supreme achievement, and worthy of the stature of Area Auto Racing News’ Newsmaker Of Week for June 23, 2015
