RIDING OUT A ROUGH ONE during the “Jersey Rush” at N.J.’s New Egypt Speedway (above left, Photo by Dave Kovacs) was Sprint Car driver Ryan Smith! He had set fast time in qualifying, but flipped over the fourth turn guardrail early in the feature and became wedged against the barrier and catch fence. Despite the wild ride, he escaped injury; Saluting his “Turn Two Fans” at his home track Riverhead (Long Island) Raceway (top, Photo by Howie Hodge), Justin Bonsignore enjoyed his victory lap after winning the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour feature; Stewart Friesen celebrated (above, Photo by Alex and Helen Bruce) after his surprise win in the Mr. DIRT Track USA for the Super DIRTcar Series at N.Y.’s Lebanon Valley Speedway! Friesen was in second place with two laps to go, then became the leader when the car of pacesetter Brett Hearn ran out of fuel.
