 When the chips were down, Kyle Busch got up.

 Often criticized for his brashness as he battled his way into the front lines of NASCAR racing, Busch became a sympathetic figure in February when he broke a leg and an ankle in a Daytona Xfinity crash.

 From that ebb, came recovery, a ‘conditional medical exempttion’ from NASCAR’ and, against steep odds, success at qualifying for ‘The Chase’.

 Then, after sidestepping his way into the Final Four at Homestead, Busch got down to business.

 NASCAR’S newest Sprint Cup champion is earned his crown the way champions always do: by overcoming adversity, benefiting  from good fortune, and, when it’s time to excel, to do just that.
