Port Royal Speedway honored its legendary Sprint Car champion Keith Kauffman this past Saturday with the first running of the Keith Kauffman Classic.
It was only fitting that the winner of the Kauffman inaugural, sanctioned by the All Star Circuit Of Champions, would be Dale Blaney, the organization’s most prolific winner.
The parallels between Kauffman and Blaney are many: talented wheelmen, promoters of the sport, well-liked.
Their one stark difference: Kauffman is retired, Blaney is in the prime of his career.
Both have written headlines. This time, it is Blaney who is the maker of news – by winning the race in Kauffman’s honor.
