AARN Photographer Bruce Thomas Passed Away on May 6 Laid To Rest Today

JONESTOWN, PA — Area Auto Racing News photographer Bruce Thomas, of Jonestown, passed away after a lengthy illness on May 6 at the Hospice Residence of Central Pa. in Harrisburg, Pa.

While on the AARN staff, Bruce was an auto racing photographer at Pa.’s Grandview Speedway and many other area race tracks. He was a member of the Eastern Motorsports Press Association (EMPA). His online blog rubrailsroostertails. blogspot.com was popular with local race fans.

He grew up in Christiana, Pa., attended Octorara Area High School, and was a highly skilled welder during his younger years, as well as a very talented artist. He did bible study weekly at home with Anthony Manning.

Born in Coatesville he was the son of Ann “Dolly” (DiObilda) Thomas, and the late Joseph A. Thomas, Sr. Bruce is survived by his loving companion Linda Beachell; a brother Joe Thomas Jr of Kirkwood, Pa., and sister Carla (Thomas) Garcia wife of Tony of Cape Coral, Fla.; two nephews, Joey Thomas husband of Nataly of New Providence, Pa., and Antonio Garcia of Cape Coral, Fla., and many cousins. He was preceded in death by this father Joe Thomas Sr.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life at Andrews Bridge Christian Church, 1873 Georgetown Rd. (Rte 896) Christiana, PA 17509 on Wednesday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m. The interment will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.
