Newsmaker of the Week // Lincoln Speedway

Lincoln Speedway ran its 410 Sprint season opener this past Saturday, officially kicking off the outdoor northeastern racing season.

Danny Dietrich won the feature in a creditable drive.

But the story of this race was the extraordinary commitment Lincoln Speedway made to running it.

The raceday forecast was terrible. Then, just as the racing was getting in gear, a hailstorm hit the track. Rain then pelted the speedway. There were even reports of a tornado warning for the Adams County area.

It took four hours to get the track race-ready again – but the Lincoln faithful stayed.

Lincoln has built a reputation as being a track that will not cancel a race unless it’s absolutely necessary.

By staring down Mother Nature, and winning, Lincoln Speedway started off the season right – as a Newsmaker!
