To a generation of racers, Maynard Troyer was the driver of the Number 6 Modified and among the men to beat. To the next generation, Troyer was the founder of Troyer Race Cars, builders of race and championship winning Asphalt and Dirt Modifieds.
Maynard Troyer died this past weekend at age 79, after battling illness for some time.
Yet the Troyer name, both symbolically, if a bit eerily, shone brightly both at Lancaster Speedway where Patrick Emerling’s Asphalt Troyer and at Canandaigua Speedway where Peter Britten’s Dirt Troyer won high profile feature races.
Maynard Troyer was a self-made man whose legacies as a racer and diversified race car builder will not be forgotten.
For one last time, Maynard Troyer is Area Auto Racing News’ Newsmaker Of The Week for the week of Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
