At Wall Stadium, New Jersey and at Lancaster, New York, a pair of important asphalt Modified races were held this past Saturday night.
Wall’s Cliff Krause Memorial honored the track promoter who died of natural causes in January. Lancaster’s Tony-Tommy Memorial Race honored the memories of Tony Jankowiak and Tom Druar, brothers-in-law, who were fatally injured just a few months apart.
Big fields were watched by big crowds at both places.
In a pair of remarkable results, Cliff Krause’s son Andrew won the Wall Stadium race, and Tony Jankowiak’s son Andy won the Lancaster race. Needless to say, both winners were emotional and two grandstands full of spectators, 300 miles apart, were moved by the two eerily similar outcomes.
Such is the stuff of which Newsmakers are made!
