Newsmaker of the Week // Mat Williamson

Mat Williamson opened the Super DIRT Series 2023 point season with a big win at Bridgeport Motorsports Park on Sunday night. Williamson had to outrun the usual Super DIRT Series threats but also an upset-minded Matt Stangle who drove the race of his life and nearly pulled off a last lap pass to take the win.
Williamson’s win was actually his third straight in the Series, the previous two dating back to Florida at Volusia Speedway Park where he won two features on the last lap. This time, he nearly lost this one off the final corner but held on.
As a past SDS champion, Williamson knows what it takes to win a title. He’s off to a good start, winning races, earning points, and in the process, being a Newsmaker!
