The sweep of the two major Super DIRT Week races – on the same day – has never happened before.
Yes, Mother Nature did her part by forcing the compression of the event schedule into one day. But was up to the driver, Mat Williamson, to drive 350 error-free laps on his way to winning the Super DIRTâWeek Big Block Modified 200 and the 358 Modified 150.
To succeed, Williamson had to be in charge of two different cars in two different races, both filled with competitors aching to win the big money being offered. And Williamson had to possess the physical strength to navigate 1,400 turns between the two races.
By any standard, this was a career day for Mat Williamson. He was two times a winner – and a Newsmaker!
