Tulsa, Oklahoma was the scene for the annual Chili Bowl last week, the biggest Midget race of the year. Over 300 teams entered for the chance at making the starting field of 24 for the Saturday night finale. At stake was the coveted Golden Driller trophy and $20,000.
When the checkered flag fell, Logan Seavey was under it first for the second year in a row. It wasn’t the easiest of wins for the driver of the Tim Bertrand-Kevin Swindell owned entry. Unbeknownst to anyone else, Seavey fought through a fuel leak that soaked his feet and left his car with just a couple of laps of methanol in the tank when the race was over.
Winning one Chili Bowl isn’t easy. Two in a row is something else. Though it’s happened before, it’s a rare enough of an occurrence to annoint race winner Logan Seavey as a Newsmaker!
