The 17 year old third-generation racer is, by any account, a racer far beyond his years. But this was a high dollar race with a quality field of competitors each looking for one of the biggest Asphalt Modified payoffs ever offered. To win it, Baldwin had to run down, pass, then hold off Matt Hirschman and Doug Coby, among the most prolific winners of asphalt Modified races and titles of all time.

Yes it was one of the great upsets of all time, yet time will tell whether Luke Baldwin’s win at South Boston was truly monumental – or merely the beginning of a career as a Newsmaker!
