The world of auto racing is in shock and mourning this week with the news of the death of Dale Planck. Dale was a Hall Of Fame champion Dirt Modified driver who had won three NASCAR regional championships, 201 feature races, and had enjoyed a driving career that spanned well over 30 years.
After he retired from driving, he had the idea to create a new concept in racing shocks. DIG Race Products was thus born. It’s a company that made rapid inroads into the ultra competitive dirt track shock absorber market. Dale was returning home after a race last Friday night when he was involved in an accident. He was 53 years old.
Even as he is being mourned in death, we may all take some comfort in knowing that Dale Planck, as a racer, as a businessman, and as a family man, was a man who made good news.
