Newsmakers of the Week // The Bealers

With nearly 90 600 Micro Sprints ‘in the house’ at Trenton, NJ’s CURE Insurance Arena last weekend for the East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals, a big percentage of the entries had a legitimate chance to win features either of the two nights.

As it happened, one family won them both. After Zach Bealer won Friday night’s 25-lap prelim, his father Pat, driving a borrowed car, turned the tables to win the big 40-lapper the next night, making for a Bealer family sweep. The unusual result was the climactic moment of a weekend that featured wheel to racing, a bare minimum of wrecks and mechanical problems, and two nights of fast-paced programs on a well prepared racing surface.
