Newsmaker of the Week // Blake Barney

It was one year ago when asphalt Modified driver Blake Barney and his car owner Justin Gumley were denied victory in an early season SMART Modified Touring Series race over a technicality. This past weekend, the team went to back on the SMART Tour, racing in Florence, SC, finished first, and this time got to celebrate their victory all the way back to central New Jersey.

The overdue victory comes at a crossroads in young Barney’s career in that his grandfather’s shop is now closed and new quarters are needed. In the meantime, Barney intends to make more SMART Touring Series starts with owner Gumley.
