Grandview Speedway’s Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker proved be a showcase for Brian Hirthler, who started up front and finished there despite lots of slowdowns and the specter of a post-race protest that was later withdrawn. Hirthler earned $7,500 for an unexpected upset victory.
The race served as the debut for the long anticipated change in the panhard bar placement, the affects of which were largely benign. It drew a big, enthusiastic crowd and big fields of cars.
In the end, the Money Maker belonged to Hirthler, whose race management skills prevailed over the field, beating the best, earning the big bucks – and becoming a Newsmaker!
