When there is big money on the line in Dirt Super Late Model racing, Ricky Thornton, Jr. will invariably be in the thick of the action, contending for victory.

The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series visited Port Royal Speedway for two races last weekend and when the checkered flag dropped Saturday night, Thornton was counting the money – $50,000 from winning Saturday, and another $10,000 for taking the victory the night before. The big score came after a breathtaking battle with Chris Madden that included a slide job with fender rubbing, and a shower of sparks from Thornton’s car after a brush with the wall.

It was Super Late Model racing at its most intense. Ricky Thornton, Jr. put it all on the line to earn a classic win – and become an instant Newsmaker!
