At Virginia’s Martinsville Speedway last Thursday, the 16th and final race was run for the 2025 NASCAR Whelen Modified Touring Series.
When the checkered flag flew, Justin Bonsignore won the battle but Austin Beers, in finishing second, won the war. Just 22 years of age, Beers became the youngest NASCAR Modified champion.
Soft spoken to a fault, Beers praised his car owner Mike Murphy, who like Beers is now a first time NWMT champion. Beers also recognized crew chief Sly Szaban, who turned wrenches for past NASCAR Modified greats, notably the late Mike Stefanik. Of note? The driver, car owner, crew chief combination completed every single lap in the 16 race season.
For emerging as a bright new star – of the present and future – Austin Beers, as a winner and a champion is a Newsmaker!
