At Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway last Saturday night, Super DIRT Series rising star Alex Payne made good on a late race pass of Tim Sears, Jr. to sweep to victory. Afterward, the 20 year old was in tears, in part because of the ultimate verdict, but also because Payne had been passed for the lead late in the going and had to throw caution to the winds to get the lead back and take the checkered flag. Payne was succinct post-race. “A lot has happened this year but one thing that has not changed is my determination!”
There was another element of this race that was dramatic: the last time Georgetown Speedway had hosted a Super DIRT Series race was in 2008, 17 years ago!
For driving to a thrilling victory on a track he had never seen before, Alex Payne, as a winner, is a top of the charts Newsmaker!
