Newsmaker of the Week // Jimmy Phelps

Jimmy Phelps has celebrated plenty of victories during his Hall of Fame-caliber career, but few meant as much as the one he earned Wednesday night at NY’s Mohawk International Raceway.

It was the Baldwinsville, NY driver’s first triumph with the Super DIRTcar Series in two years, and even though the record books show he led all 60 laps, he had to keep Stewart Friesen, who was riding a three race win streak, behind while working through lapped traffic.

After a frustrating couple seasons, Phelps sent a message to the field that he hasn’t forgotten how to win, which makes him a Newsmaker!
