PORT ROYAL, PA – Ryan Taylor proposed to Ms. Motorsports 2013 Katie Todorow on Saturday night after he finished fifth in the 410 Sprint Car feature at the Port Royal Speedway.
She said “yes” and was rewarded with a very special diamond engagement ring.
Taylor was happy with his finish, but was hoping he would win and make the announcement in victory lane.
The couple have been dating since they were introduced by a friend while vacationing in Ocean City, Md. several years back. They quickly found out they enjoyed the same things in life, especially auto racing.
Taylor supported Katie’s run in the Ms. Motorsports competition and was then known as “Mr. Motorsports” for traveling with her to many of her appearances during the 2013 racing season.
Katie now works hard for his racing team by selling his apparel at each event he competes at.
So why Saturday night? Why not wait for a win?
Taylor said he had hired photographer Brent Smith to do some photography work for his team’s website and publicity effort. It got him thinking early on Saturday that it would be the perfect time to ask Katie the “big question” with Smith there to shoot the photos. So Taylor contacted her dad and asked permission before coming to the track.
Taylor said he had to wait for Smith to return from victory lane to ask her the question outside his race car trailer in the pit area.
