What does it take to formulate a new racing series in March with the racing season just around the corner?
Only one person can know the answer to that question, Chris Zacharias.
With the Race Of Champions Series heading toward litigation, Zacharias has seized the moment to pick up the pieces and create a new series, one that would run at the same tracks as the RoC but not compete against it.
The American Modifed Pavement Series (AMPS) was thus born.
Zacharias is not unfamiliar with race promotion. He ran Tioga Motorsports Park through its final race, ironically a RoC event. And the Zacharias family has been involved in the sports at many levels for three generations.
This is a bold initiative. Promoters are watching. Asphalt Modified racers are watching. Engine builders, chassis builders. not to mention fans, are all watching.
Watching Chris Zacharias, who has moved to the front and center stage of asphalt Modified racing. From this point forward, he’ll be a Newsmaker.
