Newsmaker of the Week // Dillon Steuer

With $12,000 on the line, a lightning fast Port Royal Speedway in play, and 60 laps of Modified racing ahead, Dillon Steuer knew his outside pole position starting spot would be a huge advantage. Steuer led all the way and did so by running right up against the outside wall lap after lap, challenging a cushion that became more of a curb as the race went on. He had to be razor sharp to prevail over a multitude of double file restarts. Then to seal the deal, he had to hold off a last turn victory bid by Matt Sheppard that fell half a car length short.

The win was Steuer’s first in the Short Track Super Series, a triumph his father called ‘his biggest win ever”. It was a big day for the Long Island, New York based father-and-son team, a win achieved by a flawless drive under intense late race pressure.

That’s a Newsmaking kind of performance!
